Top Ten Again!

By James

Just saw the updated xbox.com popular Xbox Community Games list, and we hit the top ten again!  ZP2K9 is #5!

That’s right, we just barely beat those two awful massage games.

A new version with bug fixes is up for peer review now; hopefully it will settle a lot of the 1.0 silliness.

Particularly notable fixes will include:

  • Shows what gamer is talking
  • Show gamer names under players
  • Numerous CTF bug fixes
  • On-the-fly server bot count + game type changes
  • Team DM spawns random (like vanilla DM)
  • 3 second respawn invulnerability
  • Bat ceiling hang bonuses switched to invisibility
  • Renamed/reskinned Cheetah Suit to Cyborg Suit

Unfortunately, XBCG games don’t force you to update, so it’s a good idea to check the XBCG New Arrivals queue for updates.  When ZP2K9 1.0.1 arrives, it’ll be up there.  And once most everyone has moved over to 1.0.1, I can start adding more content (maps, suits, etc).  Also, from version 1.0.1 and up, ZP2K9 will be a bit smart about notifying you about updates.  Workarounds, FTW!

Thanks to everyone who helped make ZP2K9 a sudden success!

So when you say top ten do you mean like most full game downloaded. Ive been goggling the Hell out of community games and i can’t find anyone that post number of copies sold. James, could you shed some light on this. Your currently have two games out there in the xblacg, are you getting money for the copies sold or have you not sold enough in a month to earn anything. I just want to know if they have been giving you accurate details on how much you have sold , also if its like thousands of people buy these games or just few. thanks man.

Umm, FYI, the XNA Creator’s Club actively discourages constant updates to community games, and Microsoft – although they don’t prohibit it – don’t want users to add content to games after they’ve been released (not yet anyway). Updates are meant for serious bug fixes only. One of the reasons for this is to stop developers from clogging up peer-review, and to give other devs a chance to have their game reviewed. There aren’t a lot of us yet, and some members are already complaining about burnout from seeing the same games being updated again and again. I’d suggesting posting your plans on updating ZP2K9 in the community forums to hear from a MVP, or search for other posts on this as this issue’s been discussed many times before. Hope this is useful to you.

I’m not sure if you already know this but it looks like any “re-subbed” titles to XBLCG “Won’t” show up in the new arrivals list anymore. I thought i’d point it out in case you hadn’t spotted the thread over at CC forums. So a manual “customer update” is gonna be required to get the word out.

This game is awesome, however I would like to see a “zoom” feature where you can zoom in a bit as sometimes you’d like to get a closer view on things.

I’m digging your style games. The giant laser cat was awesome. Haven’t played them yet (don’t have a 360), just watched videos. I’m very interested in seeing how your sales do. I do hope you’ll provide some insight when the numbers come out.
